My Infertility Journey

During high school my cycle was always inconsistent. there would be several months without a period. However when I became sexually active it was always in the back of my mind to be careful not to have a baby at a young age.

It was  around eighteen years old when my family medicine Dr. said that she wants to put me on a small dose birth-control pill to regulate my cycle. Her reason was because most likely I would not be able to have children. Having never been on any type of birth-control pill quite naturally  apprehension kicked in.

I took the pill faithfully everyday making sure that I didn’t miss a day. I also took heed to what the Dr. Said about having sex without protection for 30 days. I had a long term boyfriend at the time and he agreed.

After the 30 days we resumed our normal activities. A month later I became really ill with the flu (so I thought). Because of that, my boyfriend took me to the hospital and was told during the exam pregnancy was the problem.

Now, you can only imagine how shocked the news made me. With being on birth-control. Needless to say nine months later a baby was born.

Nine Years into the Future

Fast forward nine years later. I meet my now husband of 21 years. We were married a year before the topic of having more children came up. Both of us had a son and wanted to have a daughter.  It took 2 years to come to a conclusion help was needed. Our only recourse sent us to a fertility clinic.   Bad news, I did not ovulate. Therefore, drugs were the next solution.

Two rounds of Clomid is what it took for me to get pregnant. The side effects were horrible. It was hard to believe that I was the same person. An emotional wreck took my place.

That was nothing I ever wanted to experience again. A beautiful baby girl was brought into this world. After that I started having babies like clock work.
